In 2022, the global aging rate is projected to be 10% and 16% by 2050. The elderly population will be 1.5 billion.

In order for each and every one of us to live a healthy, fulfilling, and vibrant life, it is desirable not only to have a long life, but also to extend healthy longevity and realize a healthy society with longevity.

In the past decade, a paradigm shift in research on healthy longevity and aging has been taking place.
The mechanisms of aging are being elucidated, and methods to control aging are being developed.

In 1989, he founded R-Tech Ueno, Ltd. in Japan (listed on JASDAQ), and in 1996, he moved to the United States and founded Scampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (listed on NASDAQ).
The company has developed and launched "Rescula Ophthalmic Solution" for glaucoma, which has helped more than 500,000 patients in over 45 countries, and "Amitiza Capsules" for chronic constipation, and continues to research and develop new drugs.

After graduating of college of pharmacy, Yukiko Hashitera joined pharmaceutical industry and she was involved the development of glaucoma and chronic idiopathic constipation medicine as a researcher. In 2008 she succeeded the listing of R-Tech Ueno, Ltd. in Heracles Market (currently JASDAQ) as a CEO. She founded Phoenixi Co., Ltd. Incubator, which supports motivated young talents from different industries to establish audacious innovative startup.

Discovered senescence-associated T cells with Dr. Nagahiro Minato and colleagues in 2009, and has since been working to elucidate the function of these cells.
Specialized in immunology.
Currently, he is conducting applied research on immunosenescence and cancer immunity at the Department of Cancer Tissue Response Research, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University.
